How Can I Incorporate Duolingo Into My Curriculum?
At the beginning of the year, students spend a class period in the computer lab to sign up for Duolingo and join our Duolingo page. Students do this by following the instructions I’ve prepared in the document shown below:
By following these instructions, students have successfully joined our classroom Duolingo Group, through the “Duolingo Dashboard”. Duolingo Dashboard is a teacher resource which allows classroom teachers to assign tasks on the language website and manage student progress through the site. Developed in 2015, the Duolingo Dashboard was a game-changer for World Language classrooms.
My students commonly complete 100 XP (Experience Points) of Duolingo each week for homework. Another alternative that I have explored through the Duolingo Dashboard is assigning students with a certain number of badges to complete each week, or to reach a certain badge by a certain date.
Explore Duolingo yourself, and let me know what you think! I’ve found it to be an incredibly engaging tool for motivating students to continue their language studies outside of the classroom.
