Transforming the
World Language Classroom
World Language Classroom
Hi! I'm Katherine Lupton, a language teacher and author based in the lovely state of Oregon. This website represents a collection of my favorite lesson plans, service learning projects, travel stories, and other resources. I created The Immersive Classroom to help language teachers around the world bring comprehensible resources into their own classrooms. |
Lesson Plans
|
Spanish Immersion in the World Language Classroom |
My Spanish curriculum provides students with a Spanish immersion experience. When students are taught completely in the target language, their language skills improve exponentially. Students create original written work, read Spanish novels, and discuss complex societal issues, all in the target language. |
Service Learning
|
Integrating Students in Local Communities |
With my curriculum, students learn Spanish through the cultural context of the language. Students volunteer in their local community, honing their language skills while participating in real-world projects. Through volunteering, students gain a greater understanding of the Spanish language and of their Spanish-speaking community. |
Travel Abroad
|
Appreciating Cultures, Opening Opportunities. |
The best way to learn a language is to become immersed. A critical part of any Spanish curriculum is giving students the opportunity to travel abroad, while encouraging them to practice the language and increase their knowledge of the rich culture that supports it. |
